Young $$$Maker is my ode to the young movers and shakers in fashion, media, music, whatever. And today's Young $$$Maker installment spotlights these two fellas, Dee and Ricky, for their innovative approach at accessories. Forgive me for my tardiness on this one, but i DID just start my blog yesterday, so if you got a problem then too bad. For those who don't know, these two created the Lego heart brooch that Kanye West has been seen wearing throughout the year. This past spring they were commissioned by Marc Jacobs to add some of their accessories to his runway show during New York Fashion Week. They're also a part of the rap and dance group Jackson Swinton, but to be honest, I'm more interested in their designs at this time. I think what I love about these guys, aside from the creative accessories, is the fact that they're only 20 and 21 years old! Yet here they are, a couple of young inner-city kids from NY who have carved a path for themselves with something unique. So as someone aspiring for fashion success myself, I'm definitely inspired and impressed by their work. Keep it up! If anyone is interested in copping a brooch or a belt, like I am, then you can check 'em out at www.deeandricky.com/shop.html. I'm anxious to see what new ideas they come up with in the future (aside from the dufflebags made out of Starter jackets, and the Takashi Murakami bowtie that have been seen recently).
